A REIT rolled out water metering across its portfolio to improve tenant recharging and increase visibility of base-build consumption. In large centres, base-build water use can be significant and historically difficult to track in detail. Without clear monitoring, continuous or abnormal usage risked going undetected.
Solution
PEAK has delivered real-time water monitoring and proactive alerts. At one major centre, PEAK detected a 24/7 leak in the Level 1 amenities, draining 600 litres per hour. The site team attended, identified a running urinal, and rectified the issue promptly.
Impact
- Prevented $6,500 in water costs if left unchecked for 3 months (1,300 kL), or $26,000 in annual cost exposure.
- Improved usage efficiency helps to protect NABERS Water rating.
