Common questions

What people ask about the platform.

What is the PEAK platform?

PEAK is CIM's Full Loop Building Operations System. It connects to the building systems a portfolio already has, classifies the data against one ontology, runs continuous fault detection against a library of engineering rules, and then carries each fault through diagnosis, assignment and verified close-out. The distinguishing part is the back half: most building analytics products stop at the alert, while PEAK is built to prove the problem was actually fixed.

Do we need to replace our BMS or add sensors?

No. PEAK is BMS-agnostic and sits across your data rather than on top of one stack. It reads from existing systems over standard protocols including BACnet, Modbus and Niagara, plus direct meter and IoT feeds. No proprietary hardware and no additional sensors are required, and your BMS, meters, CMMS and reporting tools all stay in place. See integrations for the full list.

How long does it take to get a portfolio live?

Weeks rather than quarters. Automated extraction, normalisation and point classification remove the manual tagging project that usually dominates onboarding, so your team validates connections rather than hand-mapping every point. The exact timeline depends on portfolio size and how accessible the building systems are.

How is PEAK different from a BMS?

A BMS controls the building. PEAK assesses how well it is being controlled, finds what is going wrong, and manages the work to put it right. The BMS holds setpoints and schedules; PEAK holds the operating record - what failed, who fixed it, whether it stayed fixed. They are complementary, and PEAK reads from whatever BMS is already installed. The full comparison is on PEAK vs a BMS.

Who uses PEAK day to day?

Operations and facility teams work the prioritised fault list, contractors receive triaged work with the diagnosis attached, and asset and executive teams use the operating record for capital planning, ratings and supply chain performance. Engineers can also query the portfolio in plain English from the AI tools they already use, without opening another dashboard.

Can our contractors and service partners work in PEAK?

Yes, and most portfolios run that way. Contractors arrive with a triaged list rather than a walk-around, close work against tracked workflows, and the resolution is verified in the data before it counts as done. You stay in control of the building; PEAK makes sure everyone is working from the same source of truth.
